FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
What is a Swedish Dishcloth?
A Swedish Dishcloth is an eco-friendly cleaning cloth that replaces sponges and paper towels. You can use it to clean countertops, do dishes, dust in the kitchen and bath, and for general household chores.
One absorbs about 20 times its weight, and a single Swedish Dishcloth is able to do the job of 17 rolls of paper towels — saving trees, water and money.
-
How to use Swedish Dishcloth?
Wet it with water and squeeze it out to make it more absorbent. You can use sprays, soap, or just water with it. It is not for drying, but for cleaning. Do not use on cheese graters or other sharp items.
-
How to clean Swedish Dishcloth?
Good news - lots of different ways! You can put it in the washing machine, or in the top rack of the dishwasher. To sterilize, it can also be boiled briefly, or microwaved (when damp) for approximately one minute. To air dry, hang it over the faucet, on the side of the sink, or lay flat. Do not tumble dry. Overuse of extra-strength detergent may cause deterioration.
-
Can I bleach Swedish Dishcloth?
We strongly recommend not to use bleach. It is a toxic chemical that is bad both for you and the environment! However, you can use small quantities for your dishcloth if you wish.
You can either put a quarter-cap of bleach into the laundry and wash your dishcloth normally, or spray your dishcloth with a water solution (20% bleach, 80% water) and let it sit for a few hours. Dishcloth material will withstand bleach if treated this way. Do not let the dishcloth soak (in water or bleach) for any extended period of time because this will cause the fibers to break down.
Great alternative to bleach is this Oxygen Brightener that will easily remove all the stains and dirt.

How long does one Swedish Dishcloth last?
It depends on how you take care of it but generally between 6 to 9 months.
Handpicked For You
It was really hard to ditch paper towels, I've been using them for years. My friend told me about this store and I gave it a try. My complete order came plastic free and after using my dishcloth for 2 months now I can say I will never go back to paper towels. Didn't believe when they say this, but now I do. My dishcloth still looks like new, this was definitely one of the best swaps I've made.
Super absorbent and versatile! Love the design!
