This product is Paraben-free! Parabens are chemical preservatives that are commonly used in beauty products to increase shelf life. Through daily use of beauty products, they can accumulate in your body causing hormone imbalance, influence reproductive activity and in some cases can even cause the growth of breast cancer cells. If you are not sure if a product has parabens, methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben are three of the most common paraben ingredients.

This product is Phthalate-free! Phthalates are a family of chemicals that are used as plasticizers, substances added to PVC plastics to make them more flexible and durable. As such, they’re used in a wide variety of plastic substances, from inflatable toys to medical devices. While low exposures to phthalates are harmless, there has been recent research suggesting the potentially negative impacts a high exposure of phthalates can have on our health. This product does not contain these harmful chemicals.

This product is Sulfate-free! Sulfates are chemicals used as cleansing agents. They can be found in household cleaners, detergents, shampoo and beauty products. Two most common sulfates are Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLEs) and are used to create the lathering effect. These chemicals are often derived from petroleum and can be damaging to certain types of hair, can cause skin irritation, allergies, lead to hair loss and according to some studies can have some carcinogenic ingredients. This product does not contain these harmful chemicals.

This product does not contain any animal ingredients or animal-derived ingredients.

The label indicates that no plastic has been used in manufacturing or packaging of this product. Plastic-free products help reduce plastic waste and have a smaller footprint on the environment.

How do I use Tru Earth strips?

To use, simply tear a square sheet into strips and toss it in your machine. One strip=one load. For smaller loads use half a strip, for heavily soiled laundry use two strips.
Where do I place Tru Earth strip in my front load HE washing machine?

For best results, here are the recommended instructions for adding Tru Earth to your washer:

1. Detach a strip
2. Top-load washer: place strip inside washer.
Front-load washer: place strip in detergent dispenser (tear strip into smaller pieces if necessary).
3. Add clothes and start the washer.
For all washers, Tru Earth can also be placed directly in the washer, on the bottom of the drum before adding clothes.
Why doesn’t Tru Earth produce many suds?

In modern laundry detergents, the amount of suds produced does not relate to cleaning power. High Efficiency (HE) washing machine manufacturers recommend the use of low-sudsing detergent formulations that are specifically designated as HE-compatible.

Tru Earth uses a special, patent-pending low-sudsing formulation that is HE-compatible and effective for all other types of washing machines.
Is Tru Earth good to use on natural wool?

With special care, Tru Earth can be safely used for hand-washing some wool fabrics but we always recommend that consumers follow the specific washing and detergent recommendations of each clothing manufacturer.

Wool fabric manufacturers usually recommend dry-cleaning or hand-washing wool with specific cleaners. Tru Earth may be used for hand-washing if care is taken to fully dissolve the strip in water prior to adding the wool clothes.
Is Tru Earth good to use on natural silk?

We do not recommend washing silk fabrics with Tru Earth. We recommend that consumers follow the specific washing and detergent recommendations of each clothing manufacturer. Most silk fabric manufacturers usually recommend dry-cleaning or hand-washing silk with specific cleaners.
Is Tru Earth good to use on cloth diapers?

Tru Earth is safe for 100% cotton cloth diapers but we always recommend that consumers follow the specific washing and detergent recommendations of each clothing manufacturer.

Tru Earth will not affect the absorbency of the cloth and is hypoallergenic. However, many modern cloth diapers also contain some combination of synthetic materials and glues in their support structure. Depending on the materials used, Tru Earth (and other detergents) may affect the strength and durability of that support structure.
What is the shelf life of Tru Earth?

We recommend Tru Earth be used within three years of purchase.
