U-KONSERVE
DESIGNED FOR LIFE!
50% of the plastic used in the U.S. is used just once then thrown away! Together we can change that.
U-KONSERVE STORY
Childbirth can totally change our perspective and make us see things in different light. We can fairly say that’s what happened to Chance Claxton after she gave birth to her daughter.
Being very environmentally conscious, she was increasingly concerned about the plastic pollution and wanted to find a solution for parents to reduce the plastic baggies, juice boxes and packaged foods piling up in landfills.
In 2008. Chance and her friend Lynn Jullian founded U-Konserve and created the first zero-waste lunch kit for elementary schools. The kit started a “domino effect” and thousands of families started to embrace this new reusable concept. This was way before the zero waste movement was making headlines.
Recognizing that people needed more reusable options, the company quickly developed a full line of zero-waste food-storage essentials for the whole family at home and on the go. Today U-Konserve is one of the leaders in its field and in raising awareness about the growing movement to reduce single-use plastic.
HOW DO THEY MAKE AN IMPACT?
Every year Americans throw away 100 billion plastic bags and on average, a school-age child using a disposable lunch generates 67 pounds of lunch waste per school year.
U-Konserve recognizes these facts about plastic pollution and their mission is to change our daily habits and to provide high quality and long-lasting products that will minimize food-packaging waste.
Their products are tested by CPSIA - accredited independent labs to ensure that they are free of BPA, phthalates and lead.
They also offer Lids for Life guarantee in which they will take defective or damaged lid for free. All of their products are designed in California and are responsibly made in China in facilities that are working toward green practices.
U-Konserve is a Certified B Corp which means that they have met rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
They have partnered with 1% for the Planet through which they donate 1% of their annual revenue to support environmental projects. In addition to this, U-Konserve supports schools by offering school discounts and through their Waste-Free Challenge they donate 20-30% of sales back to schools that help promote waste-free lunch packing.
