A simple phone call that changed things. Sounds familiar? That is exactly how it all started with Cherie, co-founder of Saalt when she called her aunt in Venezuela. It was during their catching up when she discovered that pads and tampons are not available in stores in Venezuela.
Being a mom of five daughters and using the period care herself, she immediately thought what she would do if one of them was in a situation like that. The dependence she and others had on disposables kept her restless for many nights.
It was three months later when she started her search for reusable menstrual pads for hundreds of her friends. However, she could not find one that met her ideal criteria.
It did not take her long to start custom designing her idea of the perfect cup. After hand sketched drawings turned into fourteen design iterations, in February of 2018, Saalt was launched with the vision of an ideal sustainable period care that would be easily accessible to everyone. And the name? It represents something that is essential for our body!
