With a desire to clean our homes without dirtying our planet, more and more people are turning to eco-friendly cleaning products. As such, Dropps has quickly become a household name. Their impressive product lineup includes Dropps laundry detergent, fabric softeners, dishwasher detergent, dish spray, air freshener, hand soap, Swedish dish cloths, and other essentials for sustainable sparkle. Let’s dive into these powerful cleaning products a little more.
Dropps: Clean Earth, Clean Planet
“Powerful cleaning. Zero B.S.” is Dropps’ motto. They accomplish it by harnessing the power of nature—all while making products that are convenient and do their job.
For Dropps, this starts with transparent ingredients—all of which are intentionally used and responsibly sourced. Deemed an EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year, you can be sure that Dropps products are better for you, your home, and our planet.
Are Dropps Really Eco-friendly?
Now, you may also be wondering, is Dropps actually non-toxic? Yes! Their formulations, while tough on stains and dirt, are free from harmful ingredients and toxic pollutants. Like all of their other products, Dropps Dishwasher Detergent Pods, for example, are free of dyes, parabens, phthalates, triclosan, and animal testing.
Even better, everything is packaged in an eco-conscious way (read: no big plastic jugs!). In fact, the Dropps laundry pods were some of the first pod-contained laundry detergent on the market! Even the outer packaging is designed to eliminate single use plastics and wasteful shipping materials.
In addition to Dropps preventing more than 3,500,000 plastic jugs, bottles, pouches, and tubes from being produced, everything is shipped in compostable, recyclable, and repulpable boxes. The cardboard is certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC), too. Even the tape and shipping label are compostable!
But getting rid of excessive plastic packaging isn’t the only way Dropps has been innovative and Earth-friendly. Their local manufacturing is, too!
Are Dropps Made in the USA?
Keeping supply chains local (and more sustainable), all Dropps products are manufactured in the United States. Not only is this a greener option, but it also supports local jobs and communities and small businesses. Local manufacturing also ensures that individuals involved in making Dropps products are supported with better labor conditions and fair wages.
Do Dropps Pods Have Microplastics?
Like most other sustainable products, Dropps detergent pods aren’t perfect. The pods used for Dropps laundry and cleaning products are made of polyvinyl alcohol film (PVOH). While PVOH is unfortunately a type of plastic, it has been designed to be biodegradable—especially in water.
The jury’s still out regarding PVOH’s contribution to microplastics (research has argued both sides of the story). BUT it’s still far more sustainable than the alternative! A miniscule amount of microplastics has less of an environmental impact than large plastic jugs that will take thousands of years to break down—while releasing microplastics and other toxins in the process.
